Notes on Finn Sheep:  According to the Finnsheep Breeder's Association, Finns are an old landrace breed, native to Finland. Landrace breeds adapt to the particular qualities of climate, landscape and other distinct qualities of life in a specific region, and consequently adapt well to their surroundings over time, and in isolation from other breeds. Finn sheep are multi-purpose sheep; in Finland provide meat, wool, fiber and pelts. In the US, they have been used as a cross-breed animal to improve health and breeding in domestic flocks.  In recent years, due to the rising interest in handspinning, American handspinners have become increasingly attracted to Finn because of the high quality of the fiber--it is soft, lustrous, durable and colors are quite lovely. (See Finnsheep Breeders Association for further information.)
