Product Description

Brand: Sampler Company

Depiction of English and French soldiers assembling for battle.  Recruiting officer at a table under the tree signing a new recruit.  A girl hidden behind a tree peering at the ranks of soldiers; an elderly man also surveying the scene.  Lord Wellington rides into camp, a supply wagon following.  A boy and mother wave to a group of departing soldiers.

Verse comes from a traditional English folk son dating back to early 18th century or before.  The nursery rhyme 'Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son' mentions a piper who only knows one tune - 'Over the Hills and Far Away.' The motto - 'Virtutis Fortuna Comes' was Lord Wellington's motto and means - Fortune favours the brave."
